His education in England strengthened his bonds to nature, sports and gave him a broader view of the World than many of his generation. In 1939 a random encounter with the French winemaker Eugène Hélisse resulted in the creation of a wine brand with international success – Casal Garcia. The growing search for these wines lead Roberto Guedes to increase the investment in production. In 1965, the volume of wine sold reaches over 10 million liters.
