Five Generationss
Son of the founder, Fernando Guedes da Silva was a family man. Fernando and his brother Manuel inherited Quinta da Aveleda with a production of 150 barrels of wine. In 1923, the estate already produced 600, as a result of the work done in the vineyard and the growing demand for Aveleda’s wines. Fernando ended up buying his brother’s share, uniting the property. He was part of the foundation of the Vilticultural Comission of Vinhos Verdes in 1926, the entity that regulates the wine production of the region and that assures the recognition of its wines. Fernando Guedes da Silva left a strong family legacy.
